40th Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference FAQs

What are the lodging options for the Conference?

The Scotia Lodge has some rooms for April 26 - 29 at per diem rates. You can reserve under the SRF Group Block online or by calling 707-298-7139. Must book before April 14, 2023 to receive a discount. Please note that the Scotia Lodge is a 10 - 15 minute drive from the Conference Center.

Super 8 by Wyndham is fully booked. If you made a reservation here and have questions you can reach the Front Desk at 707-682-5103.

The Redwood Riverwalk Hotel has some spotty availability. If you are only attending April 25 - 26,  and need lodging you can reserve by calling 707-725-5500 and booking under the Salmonid Restoration Block. Must book before April 10, 2023 to receive a discount.

Comfort Inn and Suites Redwood Country is fully booked. If you made a reservation here and have questions you can reach the Front Desk at 707-725-7025.

Best Western Country Inn is fully booked.  If you made a reservation here and have questions you can reach the Front Desk at 707-725-6822. 

What time do field tours depart?

Tuesday and Wednesday workshops and field tours are 9am to 5pm. Field tours depart promptly at 9 am so please come to the facility early to pick up your registration packet and pack a lunch for the day. Registration starts at 8am. 

What is the conference registration policy for the 2023 Conference?
There will not be refunds for the 2023 Conference but registration fees can be transferred to another person in advance of the conference or registration fees can be deferred to 2024. Cancellations due to COVID-19 will be refunded after the conference.
What COVID protocols will SRF be taking at the SRF Conference?
SRF will follow all CDC and Humboldt County public health COVID precautions and recommendations.  Additionally, SRF recommends that all conference participants get tested prior to traveling to the conference.
How do I sign up for the Conference poster session?

Please use the poster session form to register for the poster session that will be Thursday, April 27 at the Fortuna River Lodge. Please fill out the form by Monday, April 10, 2022. SRF encourages posters, pamphlet distribution, software exhibits, and multimedia (video) presentations. SRF recommends the wall poster be no larger than 3' x 4'. You must be registered to attend the conference to attend the poster session.

How do I apply for the 2023 SRF Conference Mentorship Program?

Pre-regsitration ended on March 3. Questions and inquiries can be emailed to info@calsalmon.org. More information on the 2023 Mentorship Program is available here

How do I apply for a scholarship to attend the 2023 Conference?

Thanks to the generous contributions from members and co-sponsors, SRF will be expanding our conference scholarship (conference registration fee waiver) opportunities this year. Scholarships are specifically for underrepresented members of the watershed restoration field, tribal members, students, and rural landowners.

To apply for a scholarship, please email info@calsalmon.org a 200 word explanation of why you would like to attend the SRF Conference, how it would benefit the work / studies you are doing, and how you anticipate applying what you learn.

Scholarship requests are due on March 1 and SRF will be in touch with scholarship recipients by March 17.

How do I donate to the Conference Scholarship Fund?

You can make a tax deductible donation here to the conference scholarship fund that will enable tribal members, underrepresented fisheries students, and rural landowners to attend the premier salmon restoration conference in California.

 
How do I nominate someone for an award?
Please submit 200 words or more to nominate candidates for the illustrious Nat Bingham Memorial Restorationist of the Year Award, the Golden Pipe Award for Innovation, the Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Gordon Becker Memorial River Advocate Award. Please find descriptions of the awards page. 
 
All of these awards will be presented at the 2023 Salmonid Restoration Conference.
 
Nominations should be sent to srf@calsalmon.org by February 11, 2023. Please write "Award Nominations" in the subject line.
 
How do I submit an abstract for the SRF Conference?

SRF has an Open Call for Abstracts process. The Final Call for Abstracts is now posted and presenter abstracts are currently due on November 16, 2022. Please read the Final Call and the guidelines to know how to best submit an abstract. Please specify your preferred session. Abstracts are forwarded immediately to coordinators. Please note that if a session does not receive enough abstracts to be viable, we may defer that session to a future year.

What is the timeline for session and abstract submissions?

The call for session, workshop, and field tour proposals goes out in July and closes in August before the conference. 

The First Call for presenter abstract goes out in September before the conference. The Second Call goes out in October, the Final Call goes out in November and closes shortly afterwards. 

Presenter Abstracts Due Nov 16, 2022.

Session Coordinators Final Selection of Presenters due on Nov 22, 2022.

The conference agenda is posted and registration opens in January before the conference. 

The conference is typically held in April.
